I would be talking about the similarities of the story "Lamb To The Slaughter" and "The Way Up To Heaven", Both by Roald Dahl. Lamb To The Slaughter, talks about a woman, Mary Maloney, murdering her husband, Patrick Maloney, after hearing her husband told her some news that shocked her so much that she murdered her husband by smacking him hard on the back of his head. Although not mentioned in the story, i think that Patrick Maloney wants to leave Mary for another woman. Mary was also at an advances state of pregnancy. The Way Up To Heaven is about Mrs Foster wanted to visit her daughters, but Mr Foster deliberately wanted to miss the flight. He gave an excuse that he had not gotten the present that he wanted to give their daughter, and has to get it. actually, the present was already in the car. Then , Mr Foster got stuck in a lift. Mrs foster knew that, but did not do anything to save him, on purpose. Then, Mrs Foster left to catch the flight, leaving Mr foster there on his own to die. She also knew that if he stays in there for 2 weeks, he would die, so 2 weeks later, she went back and called the lift repairman to repair the lift and talked about a funny smell coming from the lift.
There are many similarities between the 2 stories, but there are also a lot of differences. In the 2 stories, both wives seemed very kindhearted, and caring for their husbands, and both husbands have total dominance over their wives and start to take them for granted. that resulted in letting the two wives murder them. But the differences are that in Lamb To The Slaughter, Mrs Maloney killed Patrick as Patrick wanted to leave her, but in The Way Up To Heaven, Mrs Foster "killed" Mr Foster as she just thinks that her life would be better without him after all. Another difference is that in Lamb To The Slaughter, Mary Maloney Directly killed Patrick with direct contact, but in The Way Up To Heaven, Mrs Foster indirectly "killed" Mr Foster, or rather not wanting to save him from something that she knew would kill him.
I personally prefer Lamb To The Slaughter, as the story is more exciting, and i like the way Mary Maloney covered up for her crime, and her ingenious way of getting rid of the murder weapon. I also liked how Roald Dahl kept his readers in suspense at the last part when Mary Maloney giggles after feeding the police officers the murder weapon-The Lamb Leg.
