Scout, her brother Jem and his father Atticus lives in a the town of Maycomb in Alabama during the Great Depression. Their family isn't hit that hard by the Great Depression as their father, Atticus, is a prominent lawyer in town. The two siblings stories together. Dill gets fascinated by a spooky house called Radley Place. That house is owned by Mr. Nathan Radley, and his brother Arthur Radley had never left the house for years.
Scout goes to school that winter and she hated it. The siblings found presents in a tree in the Radley property. When Dill comes back, they acted out a story about Arthur, only to be stopped by Atticus, that asked then to see others through other perspectives before judgment. The night before Dill was going to leave, the trio goes into Radley property, and got themselves shot at. Jem's pants got shot and she loses his pants, just to notice that it was mended and hanging on their fence later in the story. That winter, more presents were found in that tree's knothole, only until it was plugged by Nathan Radley with cement. A fire broke out in a neighbor's house, and as Scout watches the blaze, someone hangs a blanket over her shoulders. The siblings believed that all the happenings were doings of Arthur, and told their father about the happenings.
Atticus stood by a black man who was accused of raping a white woman, and fought for him on court. The racist community then bullies the two siblings even during Christmas in their own property. Their cook brought then brought them to a black church. Dill escapes from his new father and comes to Maycomb. The trail of Tom Robinson began and when he got into jail, and the mob gathered to lynch him, only to be stopped by the family of three. The mob was dispersed when Scout asks about one guy in the mob about his son. Atticus then found proof that Mayella actually propositioned Tom and when she was discovered by her father, he got so mad that he started hitting her, and to hide her shame, she accused Tom for raping her. Despite the sufficient proof to Tom's innocence, the all white jury convicts him, and he got shot to death after attempting to escape from jail.
Mayella's father, Bob, thinks that Atticus made a fool of him and vows revenge. He menaces Tom's widow, breaks into the judge's house, and attacks the siblings. Arthur then appeared and saved them, stabbing Bob mortally in the course. Arthur carries the wounded Jem back to Atticus' house, where the sheriff, in order to protect Arthur, insists that Bob tripped over a tree root and fell on his own knife. Boo then disappeared into Radley House again.
