Huck is born in a poor family with a drunken father. He and his friend, Tom Sawyer, found a robber's stash in a cave. They got $6000 worth of gold each, which a local lawyer ,Judge Thatcher, kept for them safely, with a one dollar interest per day rate.Huck was adopted by the Widow Douglas, who tried to groom Huck into a good and educated person. Huck could not stand that and ran away, only to return when tom told him that he could only join his gang if he was respectable. Miss Watson gave Huck spelling lessons, where in the process, Huck learns to read. He was taught about heaven and hell, where he thinks he would end up in the former, as he just could not bother getting into the latter.
Huck then escapes with Tom Sawyer they met up with a few other boys that Tom calls the "Tom Sawyer Gang", where everyone needed to sign a blood oath to not quit, or else the family of that person would be killed. One boy threatened to quit and reveal their secrets, only to do otherwise after being bribed 5 cents by Tom. They all agreed to meet again another day, other than on Sunday and Huck returns home just before dawn.
Huck was taught about prayers, but soon give up after his prayers were not answered. He was also taught about a good and bad god, and concludes that he belongs to the good one although his doubts of if he would be taken in due to his qualities. A rumor spreads that Pap died, but Huck found out that the body was nothing more than a woman dressed in mans' clothes. Huck, along with some other boys then quit the gang as they realized that tom was nothing but lies, after Tom said that there would be Arabs and Spaniards, along with camels and elephants, that turned out to be a school picnic outing. They also tested Toms theory of rubbing oil lamps and meeting genies, but to no avail.
Huck was found snow tracks one winter day, and recognized it to be his father's. He knew what he wants and sells his gold for a dollar to Judge Thatcher so as to prevent his father from getting the gold. His father was waiting for him in the bedroom that night.
His father demands for money from him, and called him a liar when he answered that he had no money. He took the dollar and left for whiskey.Pap shows up drunken, and demands Huck's money from Judge Thatcher. Thatcher and Widow Douglas tried to get custody of Huck, but fails when the new judge refused to separate a father and son. Pap ended up in jail after a drunken spree. The new judge tried to reform Pap which seemed to work until he resumed his old life, and the judge, as a last resort, dealt with him with a shotgun.
Huck was then locked up by Pap while he goes out to drink. He found an old saw and resolved to saw his way out from Pap and Widow Douglas. Unfortunately, Pap returns just when Huck was about to escape. He complains about Thatcher that it was his delay that made him fail to get Huck's fortune despite the high chances of doing so. He also ranted that Huck could vote for his own state, and could not be sold as a slave unless he lived in Missouri for six months. Pap then fell asleep, only to wake up to chase Huck with a knife in hand, but soon passes out. Huck points a rifle at Pap while waiting for him to wake up.
Pap wakes up to send Huck to find some fish. He found a canoe, and hides it in the woods. Huck returns and was chained again, but soon finished sawing his way out when Pap is away. He cut a pig's throat, spilling its blood in the cabin, making it seemed like he was killed and dragged away by robbers. He took all the valuables in the house and sets out for the canoe. He plans to hide in the woods until moonrise and leave for Jackson's Island only then. He fell asleep only to wake up to see Pap rowing down the river, probably in search for him, and he sets for the island only when he passed.
A ferry with Pap, Judge Thatcher, and her daughter, sets out in search of Huck, dropping loaves of mercury filled bread to float, that he happily picks up to eat them.Huck found Jim on the island after 3 days on the island. Jim was going to be sold for $800 to a slave trader that would bring him to New Orleans to work as a farmer, and be separated with his family when he ran away from Widow Douglas.
They hid in a cave from any visitors, and from the elements. A storm swept a house to the island, with a dead man that Jim refuses to reveal to Huck. Huck dressed as a girl and enters the city to get information. He meets a lady,a forty year old new comer, and gets information from her, as she could not recognize Huck.
She reveals that her husband would search the island for Jim and get the bounty, and Huck returns to leave the island with Jim. They found a wrecked steam boat with robbers in it and made a tight escape together with their loot. On a foggy night, they encountered a group of men finding the bounty, and Huck covers Jim up and tells the men that he has smallpox. The men left in fear of the disease, and left money with Huck out of sympathy. A steamboat slams into the raft, separating the two.
Huck meets the Grangerfords, a family in feud with the Shepardsons. The Grangerfords treated Huck well, and a group of Grangerfords brought Huck to Jim. Huck was caught in the gun battle between the two rivaling families on the way to meet Jim. The two Grangerfords died in the battle.
They met two men, experienced con artists, running away from the people, and rescues them and they scammed the boys into believing that one was an English duke, and the other was the lost heir of king Louis XVI, or the dauphin. The two pulled a number of scams and earned them some money in the process. Huck knew that the two were con men, but saw no point in telling Jim, that was mesmerized by the two, the truth.
They knew about the death of Peter Wilks, and that his two brothers would be coming to get inheritance, and the two pretended to be the two brothers, that would be arriving in England any time. the people watched as the three nieces of the deceased greeted them warmly upon arrival. They were about to succeed when Peter's doctor realized they were scams after hearing their accents. The deceased's daughter, Mary Jane, dismissed the con men, and gave them $6000.
The two then sold Jim to a farmer, telling him that he was the runaway slave with a huge bounty on his head. Huck found where Jim was held and rushes to save him. Upon arrival, he was unmistakably greeted as "Tom", Huck found out that they were none other than Tom Sawyer's aunt and uncle, and decided to go with their mistake. Tom then acted as his own brother, Sid. He hatched a dangerous plan to free Jim, and carried it out despite Huck's doubts about its safety. Tom gets shot in the process, and Jim sacrifices his freedom for Tom's life. Jim was then attended by a doctor,and when he wakes up, reveals that Miss Watson freed Jim two months ago before death.
Tom's aunt, Polly reveals their real identities and Jim reveals that that dead body they saw during the storm was Huck's father, Pap. Tom's other Aunt, Sally, the one that mistaken Huck for Jim in the beginning, offers to adopt Huck, which plans to set out for the West.
Excellent work on your blog!!!! I can see you have put in a lot of effort!!! You have not mentioned why you like the above books and which characters in them inspire you. Nice collection of songs by the wat Daughtry is one of my favourite singers.
